The owners behind Italian Eatery in Minneapolis plan to open another Italian restaurant in St. Paul. The restaurant, called Due (pronounced Due-eh) Focacceria, will take over a former Espresso Royale space at 475 Fairview Ave. South. Owners Eric Carrara and his wife, Vanessa live a couple blocks away from the site, and bought the building in 2017 with intentions to add another restaurant.
Carrara said he's modeling the concept after Eataly, a massive Italian marketplace which has popular locations in New York and Chicago. "We're essentially doing an Eataly concept that's 2,000 square feet. It has a bit of a market feel — sit down if you want to sit down, and you can do an event there," Carrara said.
