Teresa Sengel, World Language Department Chair at Mount Saint Mary Academy (MSMA) in Watchung, announced on May 31 that during October and May, the school's Italian Club sponsored a Rita's Italian Ice sale which yielded over $800 for the Mercy Girl Effect.

According to Sister Lee Ann Amico, MSMA Student Government Director and Student Center Manager, the Mercy Girl Effect encompasses all of the high schools which are sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. They unify to work on a project that aids a specific place where a Sister of Mercy is working to fill the region's desperate need for assistance.
