The Center for Italian & Italian American Culture is offering three Peter Cocoziello, Sr. scholarships this year, each in the amount of $3000. The Center administers the scholarship monies annually. The Peter Cocoziello Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 by Mr. Peter Cocoziello, Sr. to be awarded to a deserving high school senior of Italian or Italian American heritage.
Anyone in the state of New Jersey can apply for the scholarship if they are of Italian heritage and they meet the other criteria. Judging criteria is based upon financial need (50%), academic standing 25% (3.5 or higher (GPA) and 25% upon a character essay. One requirement is that the student completes a five hundred word essay which focuses on the significance of Italian heritage in the student's life, as well as a discussion of personal, educational and professional goals.
