The Waldwick Community Alliance presents “The Immigration Experience” The Journey from Italy to Waldwick. Grand Opening: This Sunday August 13, 2107 from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. The Waldwick Community Alliance is proud to announce their newest exhibit to be displayed at the restored Waldwick Railroad Station, housed at the Waldwick Museum of Local History.
Come and see how these immigrants overcame the trials and tribulations of immigration: The journey to The United States of America via steamship; What they brought with them and what they were forced to leave behind; The Ellis Island experience; How the trades, mills and railroads benefitted from the immigration migration; The Italian America kitchen and what it mean to family and community; The establishment of gardens to grow tomatoes, grapes and other produce; The assimilation of their culture with the existing culture.
