Las Vegas San Gennaro feast kicks off this week

Are you Italian or just like to eat like one?

If so, you will want to head out to the 34th annual San Gennaro Feast this week.

The Las Vegas family fun festival celebrating the spirit of San Gennaro features more than 70 restaurant food booths, 80 amusements rides including the new 100-foot Vertigo, petting zoo and pony rides, midway games, arts and crafts booths, and complimentary headliner entertainment coordinated and hosted by Tony Sacca, who has been part of the event for more than 26 years.

The popular festival begins Wednesday at the Grand Canyon Shopping Center, 4245 Grand Canyon Drive, near West Flamingo Road.

Some of the mouth-watering dishes that will be offered include linguine and clams, stuffed artichokes, Sicilian pizza, lobster ravioli, Philly cheese steaks, sausage and peppers, chicken Parmesan, fried dough and much more.

Live entertainment will include performances by TV personality and entertainer Tony Sacca, Denise Clemente, Tommy DiVito, Lena Prima, Dick Contino, Esteban and his daughter Joy, members of "The Rat Pack Is Back" and many others.

Moms will ride all amusement rides free on May 8 and dads will be able to ride to ride free on May 9.

The opening ceremony with Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Father Dave Cassaleggio will take place at 7 p.m. May 9.

A spectacular fireworks show is scheduled for 9 p.m. May 12.
