On August 14th, 2020, ICC President, Sandra Gengler, was awarded the title of Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy). This prestigious title is conferred by the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, to individuals who distinguish themselves through actions that strengthen Italy’s positive standing abroad.
ICC President Gengler traveled to Chicago to receive the civilian honor from the Italian Consul General, Giuseppe Finocchiaro. The Consul praised Sandra’s dedication and work at the ICC through the promotion of the Italian language and culture in the Twin Cities. High praises were also offered to the Italian Cultural Center for its activities and programs that represent an important touchstone for all forms of Italian culture in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Consul Finocchiaro presented Ms. Gengler with the certificate in addition to the Cavaliere insignia.
Honored by this distinguished recognition, Ms. Gengler and the ICC are committed to continue striving for the promotion of the Italian language and the country's multifaceted culture across the Twin Cities.
