Presented on the occasion of the 19th edition of the Italian Language Week in the World, presented under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic of Italy. This year's edition will take place from October 21 to 27th and will have as its theme, "Italian on the Stage." This event is also presented on the occasion of the production of "Il Barbiere di Siviglia," which is being performed September 28 - October 27 at Lyric Opera of Chicago.
This event will feature three guests. Jesse Rosenberg will summarize the historical background of Rossini's opera, and Alessandra Visconti will then discuss with Alessandro Corbelli - the singer of the role of Bartolo in the October performances at the Lyric Opera of Chicago - his approach to communicating the text through inflection and gesture, with particular emphasis on the recitativo. A free discussion, including comments and questions from the public, will conclude the evening.
