Descendants of the late Fred and Mary Lordo Mazzant gathered July 30 at Robert E. Rodgers Memorial Park for their 50th family reunion. The day opened with a family prayer led by Anna Mae Mazzant, followed by buffet lunch and desert table. Special cupcakes were designed and decorated by Chris, 11, and Jordan, 8, Quintanilla, great-grandsons of the late Johnnie and Louise Mazzant.
The cupcakes had red, white, blue and green candy beads around the top with a heart in the center. American and Italian flags were placed on each side of the heart, representing their Italian-American heritage. Mary Quintanilla served as this year's president and historian. Mary made a bulletin board up of old newspaper articles. She had the first year reunion write-up from 1967, as well as write-ups about the family's musical and sports accomplishments.
