As someone who has attended the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival every year of her life, Parkersburg’s Alyssa Oliverio has played several roles in the event over the years. Her newest role will be that of Regina Maria XXXIX. Oliverio was a member of the Minor Court in 1998 and Senior Court in 2014. Along with that, she helped her grandfather judge the Pasta Cook-off in 2008.
“My family has been intimately involved since its inception,” Oliverio said of the festival. “It’s an honor to represent my Italian heritage at this event.” Oliverio was announced as the new queen Saturday evening at the festival’s Spring Gala at Village Square Conference Center. The other court members also were introduced.
