The Italian Cultural Center is looking for new members for our board of directors. Unlike other boards, there is no financial commitment, although board members are asked to donate gift baskets or other small tokens (around $100) for our Festa di Natale. We volunteer our time, usually in our areas of expertise, to help run the ICC. We meet every other month, usually on Zoom. Our meetings last around two hours.

As a nonprofit run by volunteers, we need people with skills in organizing events, membership drives, fundraising, marketing, social media and content writing, web design, public relations, and accounting and bookkeeping, just to name a few. But especially we need members who are passionate about the ICC, Italian language, and Italian culture, are willing to get involved, and have a few hours a month to devote to our organization! We want our members to carve out a piece of the ICC that needs help and get to work!

So if you have the time and energy and interest to invest in the ICC, please send your resume to [email protected] adding "Application to join the ICC Board of Directors as a Member," as the subject.

Then we will contact you to schedule an in-person meeting to see if we are a good fit.

Here are a few things to think about before the interview for the board position:

1. What interests you about our organization? Which aspect of our organization interests you most?
2. If the Italian Cultural Center were to be on the cover of your favorite newspaper or magazine in five years, what would the story be about?
3. Why are you interested in committing your time and energy to us?
4. What do you think are the characteristics of a great board member?
5. What skills, connections, resources, and expertise do you have to offer and are willing to use on the behalf of the organization?
6. What kind of autonomy do you have over your calendar? How much time a month can you commit to meetings and serving the mission?
7. Do you have any worries or concerns about joining the board?
8. What’s your connection with Italian culture?
9. What other Board experiences have you had?
10. Is there anything you’d like to know more about ICC?

We look forward to having you on "Board"!
