Eureka’s Sons of Italy organized a celebration of Italian culture Sunday, and made a special dedication to one of their own. The family friendly festa italiana took place at Redwood Fields, and all those who appreciate Italian traditions were invited to take part in food, music and a bocce tournament. During the event, attendees paused to remember a long time club member and lover of bocce – Vittorina Bisio – who passed away at the beginning of this year.
They then unveiled a bench dedicated to her, which will stay at the park – right next to the bocce court. “My Nonna was a very passionate bocce ball player and she was a member of this tournament and a member of the Sons of Italy for I believe over 60 years,” said Vittorina’s grandson, Ryan Bisio, “I hope people remember how passionate she was, just about life. The dedication that they made for her was really special and I’m just here to celebrate her life and a sport that we all love.”
