Napoli, Brooklyn, the new play by Meghan Kennedy, will open June 27 Off-Broadway in a production at the Roundabout Theatre Company. The show follows a New York City family that has found itself at odds; the three daughters of the Muscolino clan are coming of age in a very different time and place than their Italian immigrant parents, and the play focuses on a watershed moment in their lives and the history of their hometown.
In addition to drama, something the show has in spades is Italian food. Recently, star Alyssa Bresnahan—who also happens to do the voiceover work for the annual food-world Oscars, the James Beard Awards—sat down with famed Italian chef Lidia Bastianich at her Manhattan restaurant Felidia to talk about the importance of family and food in Italian-American culture. Take a look at the video below—but whatever you do, don’t watch it on an empty stomach.
