From Ghetto to Palazzo: Italian Jewish Composer Salamone Rossi

On Sunday, January 26 from 2:30-6 p.m., the Museum of Jewish Heritage—A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, in collaboration with Salon/Sanctuary Concerts and the Primo Levi Center, will present From Ghetto to Palazzo: The Worlds of Salamone Rossi featuring the Profeti della Quinta vocal ensemble, First Prize Winners of the 2011 York Early Music Competition, in their U.S. debut, and the 2012 Joseph Rochlitz documentary Hebreo: In Search of Salamone Rossi.

Violinists Leah Nelson and Lisa Rautenberg with theorbo player Daniel Swenberg will open the day with a performance of Rossi trio sonatas, and a short discussion with noted Rossi expert Francesco Spagnolo, PhD will offer insights into Rossi's historical context.
