Rocky Colavito, the closest thing to sports royalty in the city and one of the last resonating ties to 1960s baseball played in the cavernous stadium by the lake, is scheduled to make a rare appearance in Cleveland during MLB All-Star Week. The event - billed as "The Return of Rocky Colavito" - will be at Playhouse Square's State Theatre on Friday, July 5.
“Rocky Colavito: Cleveland’s Iconic Slugger,” a biography on the Indians star by Buffalo News reporter Mark Sommer, will be published from McFarland & Co. Sommer is scheduled to recite short readings from the book at the event that he views as a chance for fans to remember why Colavito “is so beloved,” the author said.
