Italy on Monday started the process of picking its candidate to complete for the Oscar for best foreign language film, led by Cannes Palme d'Or-nominated La grande bellezza (The Great Beauty) from Paolo Sorrentino, and Miel, the feature film directorial debut from actress Valeria Golino.
