Dick Vitale will be busy later this year giving thanks and accepting waves of applause. The Lakewood Ranch resident and ESPN college basketball analyst will receive three awards, the biggest being the fifth annual Court of Honor Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches Foundation.
It's given to the individual "who has roots in college basketball, values those roots, and has gone on to distinguish himself in his profession, exhibiting the highest standards of leadership.''
