The idyllic Italian Riviera is in the spotlight this summer with the PBS series Hotel Portofino. The show features an array of charming towns and historic resorts in Northern Italy’s Liguria region, but the real star is the once-quaint fishing village turned resort town of Portofino.
Filmed on location in Portofino and the Croatian town of Opatija, the six-episode drama takes place in an upscale fictional hotel run by a transplanted British family in the Roaring Twenties. It has a cast of wealthy, worldly characters, with the jewel-toned Mediterranean Sea and lush hillsides as a backdrop.
