Whenever Italian wine is mentioned, one of the first words that comes to mind is 'Chianti.' It is without question the most familiar wine designation for Italian wine in this country. The Consorzio Vini Chianti embarked on the Chianti lovers U.S. Tour 2022. Winemakers from 24 wineries from the Consorzio's 30 territories displayed their wares in tasting seminars and pairing dinners.
This is not your grandparents Chianti, but a dazzling array of fruit-forward, food friendly wines that range from robust reds that shine best with heavy meat or tomato sauce dishes to lighter reds or table wines that are best served lightly chilled, and which can go with meat, fish or chicken or vegetable dishes. Surprising to many is that Chianti produces several delicious white wines, rose wines, and even delicate sparkling wines.
