For Catholics, Easter is the most important celebration of the year. Yes, even more important than Christmas. In it, we remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is considered by the faithful the ultimate proof of His divine nature.
While Italians, just like many others around the world, are perhaps no longer as connected to their spiritual side as their ancestors, traditional celebrations of religious festivities remain an important cultural point of reference for entire communities. During Holy Week, the seven days that anticipate Easter Sunday, many towns and villages across the Boot take part in traditional representations, rituals, and processions, which have been part of their heritage for centuries.
