Comparable in spirit and concept with the “Great American Songbook”, the Canzone italiana website has cleverly mapped a database of musical products with a trove of information on singers, composers, producers. It also tells about the cultural phenomena and musical influences that have been marked by one hundred years of songs.

One of the most interesting sections of the website is the one devoted to “covers” Italian songs that were successfully adopted by others abroad (remember “Volare”?) and American songs that were translated and performed (mostly in the 60s and 70s) by Italian artists.
