Molise is an understated region that's just waiting to be discovered, and the wines of Molise are no exception. The small region packs around 5,500 hectares (13,590 acres) of vineyards sprawled in hilly, mountainous terrain, and red grapes represent two-thirds of the wine production.

Molise shares with the neighboring territories of Abruzzo, Puglia, and Campania, such as Trebbiano, Falanghina, Montepulciano, Sangiovese, and Aglianico, but also has an indigenous red grape called Tintilia, which is protected by as special DOC. The other two DOCs are those of Biferno and Pentro, which include whites, rosés, and reds.
