Vincent Abramo carries a weighty legacy, one that his father brought to Phoenix from  Italy. And now, 55 years later, he carries it in his day-to-day life.  He’s the only one with a set of keys to Tony’s Italian Delicatessen at the corner of  Dunlap Avenue and Seventh Street. So, at 8 a.m. every morning, he opens the deli his father Tony Abramo passed on to him in 1980.

Open for nearly 55 years, the shop was his dad’s pride and joy. And now it’s his. “Every day, people call me and tell me they want to buy it, my store. I don't want to sell it. I'm not ready," said Abramo, who's 72 years old and one of three employees who run the shop. "I want to work.”
