Cafe Giovanni Chef Brings His Signature Dishes to Metairie

The longtime chef and owner of former French Quarter favorite Cafe Giovanni, Duke LoCicero, opened his new restaurant and bar in Metairie this week. In the works since spring, Dab’s Bistro brings LoCicero’s Southern Italian and Louisiana flavors to the neighborhood two years after closing his 26-year old Decatur Street fixture.

LoCicero (also known as Chef Duke) is reviving some of his signatures from Giovanni, like the popular ‘chef’s pick’ food flights and his famed fried oysters appetizer, plated on a “stained glass” pattern of five sauces. LoCicero (also known as Chef Duke) hopes that late-night weekend hours, expanded small plate options, and a strong bar program will fill a void in the New Orleans suburb.
