Arthur Avenue is the expressway to Italian earthquake relief. The Little Italy of the Bronx joined local politicians and business people Friday to raise money for the victims of the deadly central Italy quake blamed for 267 deaths.
"The neighborhood owes its unique vitality, identity and heritage to Italy," said City Council member Ritchie Torres (D-Bronx). "So it hits closer to home. We're expecting a strong showing from the Bronx in general and from Arthur Ave. in particular." The Italian Disaster Relief Fund will benefit those affected by the natural disaster that wreaked havoc on three small Italian towns, leaving death and destruction in its wake.
