New Italian restaurant coming to Portsmouth

Just the name – "Louie's" – conjures up warmth and conviviality and that's just the feeling James Woodhouse and R.J. Joyce, the restaurateurs behind their new rustic Italian restaurant expected to open in the city in early May hope to get across. "It's all about a warm style of dining, heartwarming food, not pretentious," Woodhouse said.

"It's communal – food to be enjoyed together." The duo also co-own GiGi's in York Beach, Maine, with Jay McSharry, but in this venture, which will open in the space formerly occupied by The Green Monkey at 86 Pleasant St., they've teamed up with restaurateur John Ferrigno owner of ZoZo's at The Sugar Mill on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
