At Vito’s Italian Ristorante in Lower Allen Township, house wine has a new meaning. Owner Vito Serradella makes his own wine; a line of seven varieties from a dry Montepulciano to pinot grigio and a sweeter strawberry. Vito and his wife, Giusy introduced the wines in December after acquiring a limited winery license from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
“People are loving it. They drink a cup and take a bottle home,” Vito said. Vito’s is one of the only restaurants in the Harrisburg area making and selling its own wine. Changes to the state’s liquor laws in 2016 allow holders of limited winery licenses to sell Pennsylvania beers and distilled spirits, something the Serradellas now offer.
