After a long journey, this chef found her path. Here's what she can make for you

Tara Ciannella found her station in life by doing what most heroes do. She ascended to her dream occupation — her “happy place” — by enduring pain, ignoring naysayers and taking one bold step after another. The borough native began her journey designing household effects, such as glassware and furniture, before co-owning a landscaping company with her mother and later, job-hopping as a sous chef at upscale restaurants in Bergen County, where she was usually the only female on the line.

Each experience left her dissatisfied, she says, convincing her to start Tara’s Italian Cucina, a small business that she runs out of her home in Congers, New York. She caters private parties, and she prepares meals for on-the-go families. The work is gratifying, she says.
