Slay Italian Kitchen is now open in Manhattan Beach. The restaurant, a work of local and restaurant owner David Slay, was supposed to open about two months ago, but finally opened Tuesday, February 4. Slay took over Darren's and built Slay Steak + Fish House in February last year. Slay Italian Kitchen is in the spot previously occupied by Jimmy's Kouzina, which closed after 35 years.
"Our cooking style is rustic Italian featuring stone fired pizza, roasts and veggies," Slay said in a press release. "A lot of our vegetables will be grown at our vineyard along with several of our Slay wines." The restaurant will be another family affair for Slay, whose wife Gale and son David Slay Jr. will be partners in the restaurant.
