Innovative Italian for Reading Knowledge Online Certificate Program offered by Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey

Sep 04, 2014 2005

The Italian Department at Rutgers now offers an innovative, fully online Italian for Reading Knowledge Certificate Program.

This two-course program surveys Italian vocabulary and idiom, syntax and grammar, helping learners to acquire the language skills necessary to appreciate the works of important Italian authors as they were written. The program is appropriate for members of the general public who wish to acquire a reading knowledge of Italian, and for current students studying art history, architecture, history, and world literatures.

These fully online courses feature small class sizes and direct student/instructor interaction, which is crucial to language learning. Also, as the courses are online, students will not be required to come to campus or to attend class sessions during specific time slots.

This program was created by the faculty of the Rutgers Italian Department, ranked #3 in the US by the Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index (measuring books published, grants awarded, and articles cited). Rutgers has long been a national leader in the humanities, ranked as #4 among American public universities by Times Higher Education (U.K.) in 2013.
