The cultural presentation topic is “Before They Were Our Mothers: Voices of Women Born Before Rosie Started Riveting.” Writers will read from the anthology of the same name, about their Italian immigrant fore-mothers where Maria is bullied because of her nationality and Frances struggles to fit in with a different culture.
Editor Patricia A. Nugent will read her story about her father’s decision to anglicize his name and the impact on her family. Josephine Pasciullo will read a story about her mother and Leah Nanci Russell will read about her grandmother. Please bring dessert for the reception that follows. Free and open to the public.
