Supporting our Little Italy Businesses in San Jose

May 21, 2020 1160

Little Italy San Jose has accomplished so much and tried so hard for many years to beautify and redevelop this part of Downtown into an Italian Cultural District. We are excited that we have our permit to start construction on our Cultural Center & Museum, but it would be devastating to the future of Little Italy if we lose one or several of our businesses due to this pandemic.

Little Italy businesses rely heavily on the events held at the SAP Center and from employees from downtown businesses.  Without any events being held and very few employees currently going to work, this is devastating to our businesses. Any support you could give to all or some of our businesses during this time would be greatly appreciated.

Paesano Ristorante

Paesano Ristorante opened in 2011 and was the first restaurant to open in Little Italy San Jose. Owner Giuseppe "Pino" Spatola and Paesano's loyal staff are pillars of our Little Italy community and next year will be their 10th Anniversary.

Paesano's has set up a Go Fund me page to support it's business and the workers that make up the Paesano Ristorante family. To donate please visit https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-paesano-ristorante039s-family

Paesano's is currently open for takeout and will welcome guests to sit outside once SIP restrictions are removed in Santa Clara County. Don't forget to ask for the FREE Cannolo with every TO-GO order!

Bel Bacio

Bel Bacio was opened by Debbie Caminiti 6 years ago and is now owned by Gary and Judy Sunseri. Gary and Judy are the official greeters of Little Italy and serve every coffee with a smile and good conversation. Since opening in Little Italy, Bel Bacio has been the social gathering place of our Italian neighborhood and is the best place to get authentic Italian coffee, pastries and gelato in San Jose.

Bel Bacio has not been open since the Shelter in Place mandate in mid-march and is enthusiastically ready to open it's doors back up very soon once the SIP orders are loosened. Please follow their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BelBacioItalianCafe and support them once they reopen. Reach them at (408) 645-7776.

Enoteca La Storia

Enoteca La Storia opened it's 2nd location in Little Italy in 2017. Enoteca La Storia has brought their expertise that made them a multiple wine bar of the year recipient in Silicon Valley to Little Italy. Enoteca has meant so much more to Little Italy as an anchor business in a 5,000 square foot location with a diverse selection of local and international wines, specialty beers, & artisanal Pizza & Antipasti. Enoteca has brought so much activity to Little Italy with their European sports bar, wine tasting and culinary events and private event space.

Enoteca continues to serve the San Jose community with curbside takeout. Open 12-7 Tue-Sat Please call them at 408-618-5455 or order delivery on Door Dash https://www.doordash.com/store/enoteca-la-storia-san-jose-172438/en-US. All wine is on sale through the end of SIP. Gift cards are also available for purchase, so treat your friends and neighbors to Enoteca (or save them for yourself for a night out once they resume regular operations!)

Henry's Hi-Life

Henry's Hi-life is a San Jose Institution. Celebrating it's 60th Anniversary this year and originally opened in 1900 as the Torino Hotel, which housed immigrants arriving from Italy. Henry's Hi-Life serves some of the best BBQ in the Bay Area and has an extremely loyal following. Henry's is facing the same struggles as all restaurants during this time and needs your support with Downtown San Jose empty with no events or employees going into the office.

Henry's is open for Food Delivery on Postmates, DoorDash, and Uber Eats as well as Take out by calling 408-295-5414. They are also offering Family Meals to Go.

La Piccola Scuola Nel Parco

Owner Theresa Sabatino and La Piccola Scuola were the 1st business to open in our Little Italy district. There have been so many happy families that have sent their children to her Italian School in Little Italy. Our Italian language is being lost and efforts by Theresa and La Piccola Scuola to teach a new generation our Italian language need to continue to be supported.

La Piccola Scuola is also suffering financially from this pandemic and has set up a Go Fund me page at https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/save-little-italy-school-please?fbclid=IwAR1w35hbn3zAkJUYk7VpROT90kAuqUiAr4X9dVXCYMif-aKxS7Phb5nlAEI
