If he had a nickname among the members of the Inverness Kiwanis Club, it would be “Pete will do it.” “Pete did not know how to say no,” said fellow Kiwanian Bob Adams. “That was a longstanding joke between us.

Whether it was raising money for scholarships, donating one of his paintings for the annual Inverness Kiwanis Sportsmen’s Night fundraiser or writing about the the club and its people for a story in the Chronicle, Pete was all about what he could do to encourage his fellow club members and make the community better, Adams said. The death of Peter E. D’Elia on May 19 left a hole in the community. He was 80.
