One block of S. Madison Street will be renamed after Rockford Italian-American

A street name in Rockford will change in honor of a prominent Rockford Italian-American. Rockford aldermen unanimously approved changing the name of a portion of South Madison Street in downtown. It’s in honor of Louie Maffioli, a fourth generation of the first Italian family in Rockford.

He was the first president and CEO of Wilson Electric Company, serving 46 years in the electrical industry. The street name change will only affect one block of South Madison Street, between State Street and Walnut Street.
