When it comes to restaurants with flowery plating, pretentious locales and sky-high prices, Chef Mike Fucci doesn’t mince words. “Enough of the obnoxious foofy crap that goes on a plate,” he said. “I’ve done fine dining, I’ve done it all, and the one thing I’ve come to terms with in my life is that people want the basics.”
Which is what he aims to deliver when he opens his new restaurant, Chef Mike’s, in Needham next month. Taking over the space left by D'Angelo on Highland Avenue, Chef Mike’s will be a fast-casual, traditional Italian restaurant Fucci said will focus on fresh ingredients, delicious food and reasonable prices.
