Chris Botti at UPAC: A command of the trumpet descends on Kingston

He’s performed on New York City streets and in the subway. He’s had gigs in the Bronx that started at 4 a.m. And trumpet player Chris Botti told the Journal that he’s played “Everyone’s wedding this side of the L.I.E.,” referring to the Long Island Expressway. “I went up through the ranks,” said the musician, who lives in a New York City hotel.

Botti these days can look back on a career that includes a Grammy win, devoted fanbase and collaborations with Sting, Barbra Streisand and Tony Bennett. And at the moment, he can look forward to performing at the Broadway Theater at Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston on March 29.
