November 2-4, 2017 - Melville Library, Room E4340 - Stony Brook University. The Center for Italian Studies at Stony Brook University is hosting the U.S. component of a two-series international conference: "The Challenge of Migration in Europe and the United States: Comparing Policies and Models of Reception," with presentations by judges, prosecutors, journalists, religious and labor representatives, and scholars that will analyze the causes, behavior and effects of both voluntary and forced migration across Europe and North American.
The proceedings over the three-day program will examine the political, cultural, religious, social and economic policy requirements generated by international norms, such as the Geneva Convention for refugees and national conditions nominating both legal and unauthorized economic migrants. A detailed program outlining times/locations for the various sessions along with information about the presenters and the titles of their talks may be had by contacting the Center for Italian Studies (631)632-7444. Also view www.stonybrook.edu/italianstudies. All are invited. Free and open to the public.
