When he takes the oath of office Sunday as Greenwich’s new first selectman, Fred Camillo will become the first person in town history to serve as first selectman, as a member of the state legislature and as a member of the Representative Town Meeting.

The new office will be a new challenge for the lifelong town resident; and it will be a new chapter for a family whose history in Greenwich reaches back across many lives and several generations. “It still hasn’t sunk in,” Camillo said. “I don’t look at this so much as an honor for me, but for the people who voted for me and the people that helped me, including those who have set an example for me.”

Camillo represents his family’s fourth generation in Greenwich. When he is sworn in at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich, his brother Gary and sister Francine will be there along with many of his cousins who are residents of town or live nearby.
