An Italian company that makes automotive systems and components plans to expand its Lee County operations, creating 76 jobs in the next three years, officials said Monday. Magneti Marelli Powertrain USA LLC will invest $12 million in the Sanford plant by the end of 2017, officials said.
Part of Magneti Marelli S.p.A., Powertrain designs, develops and manufactures engines and transmissions components for cars, motorbikes and light vehicles. The company qualified for a grant of up to $225,000 from the One North Carolina Fund, which provides financial assistance to attract business projects to the state.
