The National Italian American Bar Association has announced the election of Officers and Directors for the term 2019-2021.  The Association is comprised of lawyers who support, promote, and exemplify the best traditions of law, history, and culture arising from Italy.

The Association originated in 1982 in Los Angeles, California and expanded across the United States with its initial organizational meeting held in April 1983 at Tiro a Signo, a private club located in Greenwich Village.  The Association has been in continuous and very active service to lawyers since that time.

On June 7, 2019 at the Superior Court in New Haven,  Connecticut , the Honorable Lubbie Harper, Jr. (Ret.) of the Connecticut Supreme Court conducted an induction ceremony in which Officers and Directors were introduced and sworn to an oath of service.

Elected as President was Francis M. Donnarumma, an attorney from Woodbury, Connecticut.  Attorney Donnarumma was admitted to the Bar in 1978, following his graduation from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, in Washington, D.C.  He is the eighteenth (18th) President of the Association having previously served as a Director for six (6) years.  He is the first attorney from the State of Connecticut to be elected President.  The annual meeting taking place from June 6 – June 8, was the first such meeting in Connecticut held by the Association.

Elected as Officers are Executive Vice President, Damian D. Capozzola of California, Treasurer P. Charles DiLorenzo of New Jersey, and Secretary Frank Sommario of Illinois.  Attached is a list of other Officers and Directors inducted.

The Annual Meeting in New Haven involves two (2) formal meetings of the Board of Directors and dinners each evening.  The Gala Celebration, Festa della Primavera on Saturday June 8, 2019 is hosted by the Connecticut Italian American Bar Association, one of many affinity bar associations celebrating Italian heritage and traditions throughout the United States.

Attorney Donnarumma, on Friday, revealed an agenda for the Association which will incorporate constant and direct communication with thousands through a variety of media, provide networking and referral relationships for attorneys throughout the United States, Canada and Italy, and offer insight and direction from skilled attorneys to consumers throughout these three (3) countries.  Strengthened and new alliances with Italian American Bar Associations will be a focus of the term.
