The first signatures of the incorporation petition were gathered last week after hosting 3 back-to-back town halls in the proposed Little Italy boundary at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Martindale Church, and Soul's Anchor Church and is a good, solid start to this historic petitioning process.
Forty-seven voters living in the area signed after hearing the benefits to incorporating into an official town and are already about 1/4 of the way there to the goal. Two hundred signatures must be collected before being able to present the petition to the Pulaski County Court for consideration.
Volunteers will be going door-to-door in order to gather more needed signatures until the next town hall and petition signing opportunity scheduled for July with the date/time/place TBA. Food will be involved and so it should be a good time as well.
To contact us, please visit the website www.littleitalyarkansas.com and get more information including a detailed download-able map, the business plan, and answers to excellent town hall questions from the attendees. Check back at the website often to view the periodic updates to the number of signatures gathered. If you like the idea of incorporating and have already signed, THANK YOU, and please spread the word to your neighbors!
