Greater Baton Rouge American Association: Scholarship

The Greater Baton Rouge American Association is dedicated to the importance of the pursuit of education, and for this reason it wishes to help an outstanding student attend a college or university.

The Greater Baton Rouge American Italian Association is pleased to announce that it will be offering two scholarship this year (2013) for students in their senior year of high school and/or students already enrolled in accredited colleges or universities.

Rules and Regulations Governing the Annual Scholarship

Each applicant is to submit a cover letter in which the applicant speaks about his/her ambitions, family, educational history, a listing of curricular and extra-curricular activities (sports, or school-related club, e.g., the Chess Club). The applicants should mention jobs they had while in school. In other words, a complete picture of whom the applicant is.

Each applicant should contact three persons that know their work at school. They could also list the name of their superior on a job that he/she has held.

Other factors that will be taken into consideration are the following: Grade point average, being a member of an Academic Honor Society, having taken courses in Advance Placement Examinations, being a resident of the state of Louisiana, having done volunteer and community work, and if a family member in the Greater Baton Rouge American Italian Association. All these factors will be taken into consideration. The deadline date is June 15, 2013. The winners of the scholarships will be present, including their families, at the Quarterly Meeting in August. The checks will be deposited at the college of the students choice and the student can purchase books, pay fees, etc. with the money.

The applicants should have the transcripts of all courses taken in high school (or college if the student is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university).

This scholarship is open to all people of all races and all religious creeds.
