Italian festival celebrates city's heritage

Tony Ricotta is definitely what you'd call an Italian Festival regular. On Friday, he could be seen serving up Italian sausage, a job he's been doing for Scipione Catering for several years. When it comes to the annual tradition of celebrating all things Italian on Pine Avenue, Ricotta says that while the food is great, it's the people he loves most.

"The festival is nice, you get together and see your old friends," he said. "It's a nice thing" There will be plenty of Italian sausage, Cannoli, pizza, spaghetti and other favorites served today and Sunday as this year's Italian festival continues. The festival, which kicked off on Friday, is sponsored by the Pax Romana Commission and was organized this year by several supporters, including Carmine Bianco, owner of Carmine's restaurant on Pine Avenue.
