The Garibaldi-Meucci Museum is celebrating 100 years as a museum. This small home on Tompkins Ave. has been a beacon of light for history, learning and the Italian culture. To commemorate this monumental achievement, a series of exhibits will be highlighted. They will include all of the regions of Italy with a colorful display of their regional dress, and a series of portraits and biographies of world-changing sons and daughters of each.
On Sunday, July 21st, at 1 PM. We continue the celebration with an opening ceremony with the artists, historians and dedicated staff to welcome and guide you. Regional dresses of Basilicata, Molise, Puglia, and Umbria accompanied by a collection of the famous sons and daughters of each region will be on display. Portraits are by Professor William Castello, and biographies are by award-winning author, Marianna Randazzo.
A few of the Sons and Daughters of Italy you will encounter include Mario Lanza, Jose Greco, Francesco Saverini Niti, Carlo Levi, Georgio Ferroni, Geraldo Dottori and many more. Please come and see some of the surprising celebrities and history-making individuals that claim these regions as their origin. This exhibit will be on display until November 2019.
The museum is located at 420 Tompkins Avenue, Staten Island, NY. Please visit our website for additional viewing hours.
