Arthur Avenue Performing Arts Center launches a campaign to renovate Rex Hall

May 02, 2014 1076

For years neighborhood residents have known this space as Rex Hall, whereas Fordham University students refer to it as the Arthur Avenue Ballroom. The Belmont Society of Arts & Culture (BSOAC) has announced its plans to renovate this 4,000 sq. foot space in the heart of the Bronx's Little Italy and officially name it the Arthur Avenue Performing Arts Center.

BSOAC's goal is to transform Rex Hall into a multi-functioning space: (a) as a cinema screening facility; (b) as an exhibit hall, dance, recital, and theater space; (c) and as a multi-media education center.

Their mission is to provide up and coming artists a platform to express new works in theater, film, art exhibits and education in the creative arts. To present innovative, thought-provoking and transformational stories; to have a resident theater company of actors and writers in developing new plays; develop a yearly international film festival; and a host of other creative works that inspire the human spirit and help transform lives through the arts.

However, they can not reach their goal alone; help out by by telling friends about BSOAC.org and to ask them:

• To "Like" them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ArthurAvenueArts?ref=stream

• Submit their short stories about growing up in the neighborhood: http://www.bsoac.org/#!your-stories/c1w9b

• Submit their photos if they have had a wedding or a celebration in Rex Hall: http://www.bsoac.org/#!your-photos/c1mi

• Spread the word about their RocketHub Campaign: http://www.rockethub.com/projects/40911-arthur-avenue-performing-arts-center-needs-your-support-to-open-its-doors
