Eight months after his ordination, family and friends of the Most Rev. Robert Lombardo finally got the chance to celebrate the Stamford native becoming a bishop in Chicago. Lombardo’s ordination ceremony took place in November, but with attendance strictly limited because of the COVID-19 pandemic, his family wasn’t there in person.
On Sunday, Lombardo, who goes by “Bishop Bob,” joined the Most Rev. Frank Caggiano, the bishop of Bridgeport, in celebrating mass at St. Maurice Church in Glenbrook. It’s Lombardo’s home parish — where he was baptized and where he attended school through the eighth grade. He then attended Stamford Catholic High School, graduating in 1975.
