Stamford resident Mario DeCarlo celebrated his 92nd birthday with family and friends at Madonia's restaurant in Stamford recently. DeCarlo, a Stamford native and one of the founding fathers of the Italian Center in Stamford, is a World War II veteran who received the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
He is also the recipient of UNICO's Giuseppe Garibaldi award, the Italian-American service organization's highest honor, given to a person of Italian descent who has made significant contributions to the advancement of the Italian culture and tradition in the U.S. Musician Bob Stewart and his Jazz Quartet will perform Sunday Brunch at PRIME on Southfield Avenue in Stamford from noon to 3 p.m. this Sunday.
