Christopher Columbus statue at Worcester’s Union Station vandalized with red paint

A crew was cleaning up Tuesday morning after a statue of Christopher Columbus in front of Worcester’s historic Union Station was vandalized. Workers were washing what appeared to be red paint off the statue. The area was blocked off by yellow tape.

Worcester police said that two men vandalized the statue with red paint and spray paint around 3:30 a.m. The men were last seen running toward Shrewsbury Street, according to a police spokeswoman, and officers recovered a bucket of paint, a bag and spray paint near the statue.
