Saturday morning, they rolled more than 24,000 meatballs 115,000 raviolis and by hand in preparation for Sunday's feast.
It takes volunteers weeks to prepare for the feast in Camp Washington, which benefits Sacred Heart Church. This is church's 104th year and the 30th for the dinner.

"We have fun. We've been doing this controlled chaos for a long time but it's actually a well-oiled machine," volunteer Gino Servizzi said.

All the ingredients from the cheese to the more than 600 gallons of sauce are made fresh.

"it's a great tradition," volunteer Herb Menkhaus said. Carryout for this year's Italian dinner began at 10 a.m. Sunday. The dining room opened at noon. The next dinner is planned for Easter. The church donated any leftovers to the Drop Inn Center.
