On Sunday, May 22, 2022, the Dante Alighieri Society of Michigan in collaboration with the Consulate of Italy in Detroit will present Pomeriggio con Paganini to commemorate the famous violinist and composer Niccolò Paganini who died on May 27, 1840. Born on October 27, 1782 in Genoa, Italy, Paganini was a child prodigy and is regarded one of the greatest violinists of all time. He was so talented that it was thought that he had made a pact with the devil!

After a brief introduction about Paganini, violinist Sonia Lee will perform several of his works.   Mrs. Lee studied at the Julliard School and has performed with the Toronto Symphony, the New York Chamber Orchestra, the Saginaw Bay Symphony, the Grosse Pointe Symphony, and the Michigan Sinfonietta. She also performed with Luciano Pavarotti.

The event will take place at the Anton Art Center, located at 125 Macomb Place in Mount Clemens, Michigan. The Anton Art Center is Macomb Count’s premier nonprofit arts and culture organization, housed in the historic Carnegie Library Building.

The doors will open at 2:00 PM so that guests can tour the facility.  The program will begin at 3:00 PM.

The event is free to the public, but reservations are required at the following link: https://www.dantemichigan.org/event/pomeriggio-con-paganini/

Seating is limited to the registered attendees.
