As an Italian-American growing up in Shinnston, Chelsea Boyles gathers with her family every Sunday for big pasta dinners and on Christmas Eve for the Feast of the Seven Fishes. And every year, she has attended the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival, where she admired the event's queen, Regina Maria, especially the first one, Mary Frances Beto Smith, who wore the crown in 1979, the inaugural year.
Boyles, 23, will be getting her wish when she is crowned Regina Maria XXXVII during the festival, which will be held Sept. 4 through 6 on Labor Day Weekend in downtown Clarksburg. Her coronation will take place on the first day of the festival in front of the Harrison County Courthouse.
